A couple things from today that stand out:
After a very yummy steak and grilled veggies dinner with the kids, we settled in to watch "Life" - a new BBC series similar to Planet Earth. This one is about how animals and plants have survived and still continue to survive. We saw one about how a chameleon uses his tongue to catch prey like praying mantis or stickbugs, and they showed in slow-mo how the tongue can reach out several meters per second to grab its prey .... so here is this long, slimy looking, muscular tongue jutting out in slow-mo ......... the girls? "ew gross! that's disgusting!" The boys? "COOL!"
Or we watched how a lion seal grabs a penguin for dinner, and thrashes it around in the water, flaying it bit by bit .... the girls? "yuck. that's gross. the poor penguin!" The boys? "awesome!!! It got dinner!". Sigh .......the differences!
Then after Danielle and Ethan went to bed, we played a few rounds of "Whoonu" with Braden, Alanna and our niece Katelyn. We were having alot of fun, and sometimes, Braden gets a little crazy. So we're playing a round, and Braden says to me " Mom, I'm going to show you my hand, okay?" I'm saying "no, I don't want to see your hand!!" (it was for Martin - he was the 'whoozit'). Braden keeps saying "I'm going to show you my hand!!". And he gets off his chair and comes over, repeating it and I'm saying "no!". And he shows me ................. his hand. His real hand. And falls to the ground in hysterics. Sigh. BOYS.
LOL! Thanks for the smiles! It just goes to show how different boys and girls are hey :) It truly is a blessing to be able to raise both boys and girls and see their differences, how they react to things, and all the adventures you can have with them.
